Australia Proposes Commission Ban by July 2012The Minister for Financial Services, Superannuation and Corporate Law the Hon Chris Bowen MP released a reform package (April 2010) for the future of financial advice as a result of the Ripoll Inquiry. Among other things, the Minister is proposing a prospective ban on commissions and volume based payments by 1 July 2012, in relation to the distribution and advice of retail investment products including managed investments, superannuation and margin loans.
